Meet A Student

        Maryanne, 24

"I like Loveland because I get to be independent.

Maryanne1

Maryanne started to attend Loveland in 2009. She lives with her mom in North Port and can't wait for the Loveland Village to be completed so she can move into an apartment with her best friends. She is currently taking Health & Safety Class, Fitness, Mosaics, Contracts, and Computer Lab. Her favorite class is Mosaics class because she gets the be creative while making things. Outside of Loveland, Maryanne participates in Special Olympics Bowling and Swimming, and loves going to the movies. Her all-time favorite thing to do at Loveland is to participate in the Follies. Maryanne says, "I love the Follies because you get to audition and be in the show and express yourself".

Testimonials

"Ever since we attended our first Follies show a few years ago, when the students stole our hearts (and continue to do so), we became full fledge supporters, contributors and ‘part time’ volunteers as needed. The Loveland Staff is a dedicated ‘one of a kind’ that has overwhelmingly earned our respect and admiration. We urge you to tour the campus and you too will become enthusiastic supporters."

Friends4Life

The John Cox Friends4Life (F4L) initiative provides annual  scholarship funds for students who are on the waiting list for state funding and cannot afford to pay the full cost of tuition. All Friends4Life donations go directly into Loveland's cholarship Fund. Currently, we need $60,000 per year to fully fund all of our students’ scholarships.

As a Friend4Life donor, you not only honor one of our students, but you provide much needed financial assistance so all of our students, regardless of their ability to pay, may live their lives to the fullest. Upon becoming a Friend4Life donor, you’ll receive a packet of information about Loveland Center and the student you honored. In addition, you’ll receive quarterly notes or updates directly from your Friend4Life letting you know what’s been happening in his or her life.   Just as Loveland's students will benefit from your generous donation and the spirit behind it, you will be blessed by the impact of your gift in a multitude of ways.

Becoming a friend 4 Life is affordable for the vast majority of people -- for just $25 a month (which can be debited from your checking account or credit card on a monthly basis using our secure website). The return is priceless.

To become a donor, please click on the link on the top right of your screen, or contact Colette Koltay or Benny Weaver at (941) 493 - 0016.

Honoring John Cox John_Cox_Friend_for_Life

Friends 4 Life is named in honor of the late John Cox, a Sarasota business and family man who generously shared his talents and resources to help others, including the developmentally disabled.Cox, who owned Halfacre Construction Company until his death in 2008, believe he had a "higher calling" to do the right thing and to give back to the community that had been good to him. Through his commitment to serve those in need, John Cox made "friends for life". And now, his legacy of personal sacrifice and generosity will live on as others follow in his footsteps.
