Kiwanis activities attended by AKtion Club members:
North Port Christmas Parade, Peanut Sales, Spring Fun Day event at Community Haven in Sarasota, Fun Day at Bay Indies (Golden Eagle Kiwanis Club), and
the Starr Program in Charlotte County

Loveland Center’s Aktion Club empowers our students to achieve their own personal goals while encouraging all members to aid each other in doing their best to be responsible and dependable in the service goals they choose to take part in. The club also instills confidence and pride in its members, with their service work in the community and rewards their efforts with the goodwill they create through helping others even less fortunate than themselves.

Community Services performed this year include:

1)    Operation Christmas Child, a Samaritan's Purse Project.

2)    Ringing bells for the Salvation Army at Christmas.

3)    Keep Sarasota County Beautiful - Adopt a Park clean up monthly at Woodmere Park in Venice.

4)    Donations to:  Alzheimer's Research, Epilepsy Foundation, American Cancer Society, Southeastern Guide Dogs,
  In Stride Therapeutic Riding, and Parkinson's Research.

5)    Sleeping Children Around the World - a Kiwanis International Project.

Services performed in house at Loveland Center include:

1)   Donations of supplies, equipment, and volunteer hours for the Phase 2 program.

2)   Donations for rent, groceries, and medical supplies for other Loveland students in need.

3)   Donations and assistance for the annual Kids Day Festival held for area preschoolers.

4)   Sponsorships for Golf Tournaments that benefit Loveland Center.

Aktion Club members have volunteered at:  Sarasota County Courthouse, Heritage Nursing Home, Venice Elementary School, Venice YMCA preschool program, Venice Little Theatre, Children First Head Start Program, and Sarasota County libraries.

Publicity for our Aktion Club takes place in our local newspapers, Venice Christmas Parade, floats in North Port Parades, and our display board of honor in Loveland Centers Community room. They also participate in Inter Club functions with the Golden Eagles Kiwanis Club in Venice and North Port.
