WELCOME!
Loveland Center is a private
non-profit corporation that provides
day training, supported
employment, supported living, and group home services for adults with developmental
disabilities who reside in Sarasota and
Charlotte counties. Services
are provided without regard to race,
sex, creed, or
national origin.
Loveland was
established in 1962 by parents of children with
disabilities.
Here in the picture to the right is Eunice
Kennedy Shriver, founder of Special Olympics, with Loveland student
Barbara Wilson. Many of our students participate in Special
Olympics games in the Venice and Sarasota area. Mrs. Shriver made a huge difference in the
lives of many people with developmental disabilities -
find out how.

We believe that all people, regardless of
disability, have inherent
qualities which can benefit society. We also feel that
they will attain whatever goals they
pursue when given the opportunity for
self-expression. Loveland currently serves
about 120 students. Every day over 50% of
the student
population spends time in the community at
various locations. All services focus on
helping students acquire,
maintain, and enhance the skills needed to live the most full and
independent lifestyle possible. Community involvement for the students
is strongly promoted and encouraged.
We recognize students
as adult citizens, regardless of disability,
with the inherent right to:
choose their own lifestyles, participate
fully in community life, have friendships and relationships,
and work or volunteer in the community as their
abilities permit.
To our donors, Board of Directors, volunteers,
staff,
donors, and parents:
THANK YOU for helping to make Loveland Center the wonderful place it is today!
